A specialist Birmingham photography store is celebrating the launch of its brand-new creative hub by giving away nearly two thousand pounds’ worth of photography tech to one lucky visitor.

Located on Hagley Road, on the Calthorpe Estate, Wex Photo Video is set to be the primary destination for photographers, filmmakers and creatives in the area, offering expert advice and the UK’s largest range of photography and videography equipment.

More than doubling the size of its previous home, the store is launching a dedicated event space to host a myriad of workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions that will suit photographers and filmmakers of all backgrounds and skill levels.

To unveil the exciting new space, a launch event will take place on Friday 31 January, where guests will have the opportunity to meet renowned British photographer Tim Flach and hear about his exceptional industry experience. There will also be an exhibition of Tim’s work, which features some previously unseen images from his brand-new collection. Fashion photographer Hanina Pinnick will also be on hand to share her career insights for budding photographers, in an exclusive talk on the day.

In addition to hosting special guests, the grand opening will also feature a variety of demonstrations, deals and exclusive discounts on offer, including the chance to win a Sony bundle worth more than £1,900.

Louis Wahl, CEO at Wex Photo Video, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be launching our brand-new creative hub in Edgbaston Village, which we hope will further establish and inspire the talented photography community in Birmingham.

“More and more people are using photography and filmmaking as a means of personal expression, and we wanted to create a space where people can share that experience with each other. Our expansion has provided us with an opportunity to do just that, as well as being able to further increase the existing products and services we offer in store.

“We were keen to remain in Edgbaston Village, as we already have a loyal customer base in the area. Calthorpe Estates helped to facilitate the expansion incredibly quickly, which has enabled us to undergo the expansion without causing too much disruption for our customers.”

Within a few minutes’ walk of Five Ways station and even closer to the new Edgbaston Village Metro stop, which will open in 2021 along with on-site car parking, Wex Photo Video is easily accessible for both locals and those travelling from further afield. Edgbaston Village is fast becoming a vibrant dining, shopping and lifestyle location that is home to several award-winning restaurants, cafés and bars. Adding to this growing portfolio, the new photography hub adds yet another reason to visit the area.

Natasha Walkden, Sales & Marketing Manager at Calthorpe Estates, added: “We are delighted that Wex Photo Video has completed its exciting expansion in Edgbaston Village, a vibrant leisure and lifestyle destination. Already a popular store for local creatives, with its extensive product range and welcoming service, the new facility very much complements the fantastic expertise Wex Photo Video already offers. It’s an exciting time for the area as it continues to grow with a range independent shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. Wex Photo Video’s new and exciting space adds to the growing list of specialist and premier retailers.”

The two-day launch event takes place at the new Wex Photo Video store, on 100 Hagley Road, from Friday 31 January until Saturday 1 February. To reserve your spot at either guest talk, please visit www.events.wexphotovideo.com/grand-opening-birmingham-birmingham-31-january-2020
