LIGHTS, SANTA, ACTION

Santa, Mrs Claus and their elf helper wow crowds in Edgbaston Village.

A record-breaking crowd of over 8,000 gathered on Greenfield Crescent to join in over 3 hours of Christmas cheer, with stage entertainment from St George’s CofE School choir singing Christmas carols, Elmhurst Ballet School students performing a recital of the Nutcracker, a very special Frozen Inspired sing-along showcase from Elsa, Anna and Olaf, who performed classics such as ‘Let it Go’ from the hit movies.  Guests were invited to countdown to the lights being switched on at 5:30pm, by head pupil Fuad, Mrs Claus, along with the fabulous compere Hattie. The Grande finale was the singing adult choir Got 2 Sing who thrilled crowds with over 25 minutes of foot stomping singing.

Barnt Green Pig RoastLaghi’s Deli and Bumbles Coffee Shop were also on hand to offer delicious gourmet food, warm drinks and Prosecco!  Not forgetting the opening night of Smoke + Ash Pizza, who were fully booked for indoor seating and had non-stop take aways all evening!

Richard Suart, Property Director, who with his family took part in the lantern parade, a new feature this year, said “The Edgbaston Village Lights Switch On is an annual event that is firmly on the social calendar and Calthorpe Estates were keen to engage with the local businesses and community to put on a show-stopping event, with visitor figures at a record-breaking number over 8,000, we are thrilled it was a huge success”.

Visitors to the event extended their evening in Edgbaston Village and took advantage of the award-winning independent restaurants and cafes, with local businesses reporting record figures for the day.
