The West Midlands’ growing reputation as a leading provider in education has been further enhanced after Norfolk House School, situated on the Calthorpe Estate in Edgbaston, gained membership to the prestigious Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS).
IAPS is a schools association with 700 of the world’s leading prep schools in members. Schools must reach a very high standard to be eligible for membership, with strict criteria on teaching a broad curriculum, maintaining excellent standards of pastoral care and keeping staff members’ professional development training up to date.
Led by Headmistress Susannah Palmer, the independent school was put through its paces during a rigorous selection process. Mrs Palmer’s application was supported by references from two local prep school Head Teachers, following which she was visited by a member of the IAPS committee to discuss the ethos of the school.
Some of the benefits of being a member of IAPS include, enabling the school to access a team of full time advisors and consultants, opportunities for pupils to compete in a range of sporting tournaments and competitions and professional development and networking opportunities for the staff.

Norfolk House School joins other prestigious prep schools such as West House School, Hallfield School and The Blue Coat School as a member of IAPS, further enhancing Edgbaston’s prominence as a leading educational quarter.
