Exciting Places
At the heart of our commercial centre is Edgbaston Village, where we are developing a premier mixed use urban village. Engaging with and reigniting the historic streets of Harborne Road, Greenfield Crescent, Calthorpe Road and Highfield Road, Edgbaston Village has become home to established retailers Oka , Neptune and Boston Tea Party for some time. We have partnered with the city council, investing in creating a very special public realm in Greenfield Crescent and developed new retail units.
Greenfield Crescent is now home to Loki Wine, KIN Homes, Chapter Restaurant, My Baby Stroller, and Smoke and Ash Pizzas. This popular tree-lined Crescent is becoming a thriving local centre. On Highfield Road the dining experience continues to expand from our renowned Simpsons Restaurant (Birmingham's first Michelin star restaurant established in 2004), accompanied by the effervescent Highfield Bar and Restaurant, to our new villagers at 16, 17, 18 Highfield Road – Edgbaston House Hotel, Scilia restaurant (opening soon) and Baloci restaurant and rooms (opening soon).
Urban Regeneration sits at the heart of what we have championed for centuries, and particularly since 1959, when the Estate formulated a commercialisation masterplan.
On the Hagley Road through the Estate, we have embarked on a regeneration masterplan for a 10.7 acre site which we redeveloped in the 60's/70's, as a modern office park from a collection of houses.
Over the last 5 years we defined, developed closely with the city, and secured a new masterplan permission with our first partners U+I. Today we are quickly progressing another transformation fifty years after the first one, creating a high quality residential-led mixed-use masterplan with current partners Moda Living.
We secured planning permission in 2019 for a masterplan of circa one million square feet of development, where the first phase of the masterplan is a 392 Build To Rent home scheme, due to open in mid 2024, being developed by our partners Moda Living.
Our vision is for many more new homes, set around a one acre green park and gardens, primarily located opposite Edgbaston Village Tram Stop.
Together with Moda Living and Birmingham City Council, our ambition is to realise another 1,000 homes here over the next decade.
